Life-Song Part 4: "Lord, I Need You"

Part 1: "Blessed Be The Name"
Part 2: "Tomorrow"
Part 3: "Worn"

Fast Forward to the Present

A few months ago, I heard my most recent "song" on the radio. The "Worn" song that had been my heart's cry for so long now it seemed.

And this crazy thing happened.

Instead of wanting to cry with it, instead of having my insides just about burst from having their feelings put so aptly to words and music, I felt...

Laughter!

This crazy feeling of, "Hey, that is totally not me right now, and YEAH for that!"

Don't get me wrong. I still have my days. Weeks even. This last week was one of them, actually, when my sanity seemed to be slipping through my fingers like dust.

But I feel like, overall, God is renewing my strength and while I might not be flying with the Eagles quite yet... I'm dusting off those old wings, prepping for what I hope is a magnificent flight.

And God gave me a new song for my heart to sing.

We were driving home from somewhere, almost in the driveway, when I heard it. I think I'd heard it before, but in that moment, my heart just clicked. It was my song!

Scott was super sweet to take the kids inside for me, and I just stayed in the van, closed my eyes, sang probably super off-key with it, and let my heart feel.

The song? If you're a radio listener, I'm sure you've heard it. It's played a LOT because I have a feeling it's a lot of other people's song too!

"Lord, I need you" by Matt Maher

The lyrics are super simple... But exactly what my heart wants to sing!

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Jesus is MY one defense. He stands guard for me, he fights for me. It isn't Krista against the world, against her fears, against her worries that threaten to break me, against Satan. It is GOD against all those things. And my fears, worries and the stupid Devil... don't measure up even a little bit to the POWER of my God.

He is MY righteousness even when I fail.

My other favorite line:

And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay

OH MY GOODNESS! There are so many times in life when we just can't stand. We don't have the strength. But when I fall on JESUS... He is there to catch me. And he doesn't just soften my fall. He gives me HOPE! He is my STAY.

Because with Jesus, there is HOPE! And that is what this song reminds me. That I'm not alone, that I DO need Jesus in the good AND bad times.

It's when I try to do it all by myself, or try to be everything to everybody, that I get in some serious trouble.
