A Not-So-Skinny Friday

Annabelle's hospital stay did me in.

Not that I was doing fabulous before.

But Krista = stress eater, and when you are sitting with your child in the hospital, eating chocolate and drinking Dr. Pepper just plain helps, I gotta be honest.

Then I came home, determined to "right the wrong" I had done to my body.

What ensued was a rapid spiral downward into the land of eating-whatever-I-want.

*big sigh*

So yes, I've gained about 3 to 4 pounds.

I KNOW it could have been worse.

But still.

I would love to tell you that writing this today, I'm on a much better trend. Yeah, but I'm not. I'm struggling... big time.

In fact, I had full plans to pretend like Skinny Friday never existed so I could struggle with this in the privacy of my own home.

But then I called myself a big-honkin' chicken and sat my rear-end down in my computer chair and made myself confess my gluttony sins to my whole readership. Confession -- check.

What I need, I think, is a goal. I'm a goal person, I work well with something to look forward to.

Long term goal is that I want to look hot for my book launch in September. Okay, wiping my tears of laughter here... if you know ANYTHING about me, you know that the thought of me trying to look "hot" is, well, just hilarious. So let's rephrase: I don't want to look like a beached-whale at my book launch. Yes, yes, that is much better.

Short-term goal: I want to fit into a smaller size dress/outfit for Easter. I don't care how smaller, just smaller.

So there you have it. My goals. Wish me luck!

Do you have some goals to share? Have you dropped off the skinny Friday bandwagon too? Have you kept up even while I took an Annabelle-eating-binge-hiatus?

Awesome goals, Krista! Seriously, I think rewards are what helps me. I have wanted a smart phone for FOREVER! My husband doesn't want to pay for a data plan. Well...I had this BRILLIANT idea! When I meet my goal at WW and get to go for free, I will use that money TO GET A SMART PHONE AND DATA PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I told my husband, he just looked at me askance. Yeah...I got him!

I lost 2 pounds at my weigh in yesterday. The last two weeks I had stayed at zero. I mean right at zero. Didn't gain. Didn't lose. Not even an ounce. I thought their scales were messed up. lol

Okay, girl! We can do this thing! Here's to having a GREAT week of Skinny Eating!!!!

I love that your goals are doable... my sister is a registered dietitian and she says clients say things all the time like "I'm going to lose 15 lbs. this week" and then they get so discouraged when they don't do it. My sister says she always has her clients make small, DOABLE goals so that they stay motivated. In fact, she usually suggests to her clients that their first week's goal should be simply to eat one fruit or vegetable with every meal and snack. Anyway, I'm a total stress eater, too, so I get that and I'll be praying that you'll be able to fit in a smaller dress by Easter.

Single mommy life has done me in. Right there with you on the chocolate, my sin is Pepsi. Goals? well I worked out once yesterday but over did it and ended up feeling sick - fail. My goals are pathetically small....just don't eat so much next week. LOL

Oh, Krista, you crack me up! Love it. I've been super frustrated because after going down for me without a lot of problem last fall, it's all been trying to sneak back on. NNNOOOOO! Please, no! Finally this morning I registered one pound down, and that's the thing that most motivates me--seeing some results. Hang in there, friend! I can imagine how hard it must be with all you have going to--but hey, you do have a WONDERFUL goal to strive for... :), and don't forget it.

I highly recommend a calorie counting/log app for your smartphone that helps you not only track your eating & exercise, but also helps you set realistic goals! I have a goal to lose 30 lbs this year! With a focus on exercising now and the use of loseit.com (My Fitness Pal is also good), I'm down 10 pounds so far this year!!

Anyway, even though I am reporting my intake to the "big computer in the sky", I have this strange feeling that I don't want the employees at loseit.com laughing at me during their water cooler breaks :-) Ha!!

I've never been a calorie counter but it's crazy when you actually start watching calories!! There really is something to more output (ie exercise) & less input (food)

Ok since you are being honest I will for the first time with anyone let it all out there. I'm 51, 3 adult children and a grandma. I've been divorced 6 yrs after a 16 yr marriage and life has hit me in the face. But my faith has kept me going even if I'm crawling on all fours I keep moving forward. I am trying baby steps in the weight loss area. First I'm trying to cut down on the amount of Coke I have before 8:30 am and second I try not to sit down with the whole 1/2 gal of ice cream for dessert. I am proud of myself tho, I shaved my legs for the first time in several months, yes I am still trying to look pretty. I have been following your blogs and pray for you and look forward to reading your book. Keep moving forward cause sitting still puts weight on you too :)
