Stupid oxygen!

FRUSTRATING DAY!

Actually, it HAS been a good day until this evening!

Girls did their chores without TOO much complaining. Mommy got a few things done and was able to ahead of my normal schedule so I could relax more tonight.

I checked Annabelle's SAT's about 2 hours ago. 90. Good.

But then she started to get cranky... and sleepy, when she'd just woken up from her nap. I let her sleep in my arms for a bit, but then put her in her chair and did her breathing treatment and check her O2 sat again.

77! ARGH!

I tried it on every limb of her body, 83 was the highest I could find but it too went back to high 70's quickly.

I turned it up to 3/4 of a liter (we were between that and a half) and no difference at all.

I unplugged her canula... and low and behold, she dipped a whole 2% from 77 to 75. Yeah, that oxygen is doing her a TON of good. (Can you tell how pleased I am???)

So I hooked her up to a tank at 1/2 of a liter... and immediately back to mid-90's.

Gonna leave her like that for a while, and toying with the idea of leaving her hooked up to her emergency big tank (for if we have power outage) tomorrow and Monday (should last... and if not we have about 12 small ones too...) and then making them come out and figure out what the heck is wrong on Tuesday.

I don't love that she's on oxygen. But I DO need her equipment to work right! And I KNOW the concentrator operates on a lesser O2 % than the tank so we might have to be on a little more oxygen when on it... but not DOUBLE!

Okay, done ranting. I'm just frustrated tonight.

Am upping my prayers that she can take good breathes on her OWN so we don't have to mess with silly oxygen tanks/concentrators!!! Still no clue as to why she's having oxygen issues... guess her lungs still just need some recovering to do. We have an appt with the pulmonologist this week on top of our other appointments, so I'll be curious what they say.

Thanks for letting me vent. :-)

Krista, it's ok to vent! :), I understand your frustation, I'm a bit worried that we'll end up in somewhat of the same situation later on with Aaron. *hug*

Hi Krista - My husband worked for several years for a Home O2 Company... Please check with your provider - but they have 24 hour emergency services just for this reason. Please don't hesitate to call them! You should not be burning your energy wondering if something is not working on the concentrator or if you will run out of back up tanks. They can service or replace your concentrator, and bring you more tanks or refill them, if needed. You should not need to wait until Tuesday.

I have followed your blog since the end of last summer. I so appreciate your honesty, faith, and love for your family that you share through your blog. I check it at least daily for updates or news.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers daily ~ (((Hugs))) to you from Ohio. Theresa

Don't worry ... it's totally oke to vent! And very understandable!

I agree with Theresa though ... I'd call the provider immediately. These things are meant to work, they are life-savers so they should come to your aid in no time!

I hope you'll have a nice 4th of July weekend!
Hugs and prayers!

I left a comment the other day how your blog helps me not feel so alone and I wish we knew one another to call and vent. I fought with my daughters concentrator last night she her pulse ox beeps at 79 and yup she keept right on 78-79. We go through concentrators like we drink water. I think when you use them all of the time they dont work well. Please keep venting it helps me.
