Annabelle update

Well, things didn't go quite as we'd planned them this morning.

We were supposed to do a CPAP trial at 4 a.m. then extubate prior to morning rounds.

However, Annabelle ran a fever of 103.1 last night. They did cultures and put her on two pretty hefty antibiotics.

Unfortunately, they still did the CPAP trial even those she was running and she failed miserably. Her lactates got up to 9 (ideal under 1... but under 2 is acceptable, so nine is horrible) and her PH level got down to 7.04, which is really bad (it should be between 7.35 and 7.45.) This was after only 30 minutes on CPAP.

So, needless to say they took her off it.

She's also had periodic low blood pressures as well.

She's also back on our Milrinone, which is a bit scary for me because that is the medicine it took her SO SO SO long to get off of. The hope is that it's just very temporary though.

Plan for today: If we can get her fever and pain under control today, we might still try another CPAP trial later today. If she does well on that and is still fever free, they would extubate. Please be praying that she does better this time!!

Prayers for Mommy's very shot nerves today are appreciated as well. I feel like yelling at everyone and I know this is not a good thing. *deep breathes*

Hugs and prayers, Krista. It has got to be so wearing dealing with highs like you experienced yesterday and some setbacks such as today brought. May you feel the comfort of the Lord as He upholds you. I'm seeing footprints in the sand.

Every day must be really exhausting. I'm so sorry. I'm also thankful Annabelle has come so far. She's a trooper.

Thanks for the update. We've been wondering about Annabelle. We're glad things went well for the surgery. (And I must say, she looks so much nicer with her "button" than my Daniel did when he returned from surgery. Let's just say he didn't get his button until a few days later and I won't tell you what he had until then.)

Sorry that the day after surgery wasn't as good. I'm sure you're used to the roller coaster ride by now but that doesn't make it any easier. I know you just want the ride to stop and to get off and take Annabelle home. We'll continue to pray.
