Well, ALMOST foot loose and fancy free anyway!
My husband decided he would take my eldest 2 daughters camping this evening. They left a few minutes ago, so I am spending my evening with Gabs! (Gabriella, Gabby, whatever you want to call her!) Haven't decided for sure what we will do. It is difficult not to be selfish and take the whole evening for writing. After all, I usually have 3 little ones running around, so to only have 1 for the night is a gift!
Oh, one other thing. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I MOWED THE LAWN TODAY. Ok, well, the front lawn, and I didn't weed eat, and Scott had to go back over a few spots with the weed eater to cut the grass I missed, but the point is I did it.
I think now is a good time to mention that I haven't mowed the lawn in, oh, about 15 years or so, meaning that I have not done so even once in our 8 years of marriage. So, on a whim, I hauled myself outside while Scott was still at work and got out the lawn mower. Then I realized I had a problem. I had no earthly idea how to start the lawn mower! This may be dumb, but you have to realize that I have completely rebelled from the idea of mowing lawns! The last time I cut the grass, I was in the 6th grade, and hated it so badly that I *accidentally* mowed crooked, and zig-zag, and skipping lines every once in a while. WHOOPS!! Oh, shoot, Dad, I guess I can't mow anymore... The bad thing was, I didn't!! My sisters were asked to mow from then on, and soon enough my little brother was big enough, so it became the *man's* job. Good riddance I say!
Anyway, back to current day (that was so an inappropriate input of back story... thank goodness this isn't being published!) Very irritated that I couldn't figure the stupid contraption out, I called my brother-in-law to get instructions. I think he thought I was an idiot, but whatever, It worked. I mowed. A half hour later, I was hot, tired, drenched in sweat, and completely proud of myself! I had done it!!
Yes, most women out there are probably rolling their eyes at me, but I don't care. The neighbors are probably rolling their eyes at me too, because of the crooked lines in our front yard, but I don't care about that either! I accomplished this small feat, and made my hubby proud of me, and I showed him my love in this little task.
So, I think maybe once every 15 years... I could probably mow the lawn for him. Wouldn't want to do it more often you know, wouldn't be nearly as special!!
